Hello! I’m Heidi (she/her). In 2019, I merged my passion for wellness and my skills in facilitation to birth my unique business. After years of cultivating my own mindfulness practices and experiencing the impacts they have on my life, my heart-led intention is to share them with others.
I obtained my Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher certification through Brown University’s School of Public Health. MBSR is a program that was started in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn that involves paying attention, on purpose, to our lives as it unfolds in a nonjudgemental manner. It is a practice that invites us to become aware when we are operating on autopilot and wake up to the vividness of our lives! I have also completed Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) teacher training through the Center For Mindful Self-Compassion. MSC helps us treat ourselves like we would a beloved friend, recognize we are not alone in our struggles, and highlights the importance of present-moment awareness.
I am recognized through Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200, RYT500, YACEP), training in Ohio and through Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina. I have taken advanced training in the areas of children and family yoga as well as intensives in yoga for those with Autism, ADHD, and differently-abled, yoga for cancer, and yoga for back care and anatomy. I am also trained in trauma-informed practices.
I am a licensed teacher in the State of Ohio. I have Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. It has been a true honor to serve as a lead classroom teacher, intervention specialist, itinerant teacher, adjunct professor, mentor teacher, and intake coordinator in school settings. My young students have been great teachers!
With my business, H. .J. Stark Wellness and Consulting, I am guiding these practices with the intent to impact businesses, schools and individuals in simple, yet big ways. When I’m not teaching or facilitating trainings, I can hopefully be found with my family and dear friends, in the sunshine, by a body of water, with a book in hand.
